Before proceeding, you would therefore like to make a backup of your phone, so as not to lose any data, but you are not sure how to proceed. Things are just as I described them, right? In the next paragraphs, in fact, I will explain how to backup iPhone to create a backup copy of all the data contained in the your phone. In addition to providing you with the detailed procedure for backing up to iCloud (therefore online), you will also find the information you need to save all your iPhone data on your computer. How to backup iPhone to iCloud
The first solution you can consider to backup iPhone is to use iCloud , the famous Apple service that allows you to store data of all kinds online, including photos and videos, and to synchronize them on all devices associated with the same Apple ID.
To back up your iPhone and save a copy of the data, take your device, access Settings < / strong> of iOS by pressing the gear wheel icon on the home screen of your “iPhone by” and tap on your name visible at the top.
In the new screen that appears, choose the iCloud option, locate the iCloud Backup , move the lever relating to the option in question from OFF to ON and press the OK button, to activate the automatic backup to iCloud . By doing this, a copy of your iPhone data will be created every day and automatically saved to iCloud, as long as your phone is connected to a power source and is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
< p> To perform a backup immediately, however, make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, select the Back up now option and wait for the progress bar to reach 100%. Having said that, before making your first backup, I recommend that you check what data is included in it, what is the total size and what is the space available on iCloud.
To do this, log in again to the iOS Settings , tap on your name and select the iCloud item, then press on the Manage space item and tap on the Backup and iPhone options. In the Info screen, in addition to viewing the date, time and size of the last backup, you can find out the size of the next backup next to the Next backup item. In the Choose data for backup section, however, you can choose the data to include in your next backup by moving the lever relating to the application of your interest from OFF to ON (or vice versa).
For photos and videos, I suggest you activate the iCloud Photo Library , which allows you to save all the photos and videos you have made to the cloud with the iPhone (and all other Apple devices connected to the same account): for more information about it, I invite you to consult my tutorial on how to store photos on iCloud .

Now, go back to the iCloud screen, locate the Space section and make sure you have enough space to back up. Otherwise, tap on Manage space , to find out in detail which data and which apps take up the most space, and possibly proceed to empty iCloud .

How backup iPhone to PC
If you are wondering if it is possible to backup iPhone to PC , you will be glad to know that the answer is yes whether you have a Windows PC than a Mac . How to do? I’ll explain right away!
How to backup iPhone on Windows

To backup iPhone on Windows you need iTunes , the famous multimedia software developed by Apple. If you have not yet downloaded and installed it on your computer, if you have Windows 10 , contact the Microsoft Store : then start this last (the shopping bag icon with the Windows flag), press on Search , type “ iTunes ” in the Search field and click on the magnifying glass icon. In the search results, click on iTunes and, in the new screen displayed, click on the Get button, to start the download and installation.
If, on the other hand, you are using an older version of Windows, connect to Apple’s official website , click on the Download iTunes for Windows now button and wait for the download of the classic iTunes installation package to complete. At this point, take your iPhone, connect it to your computer via the Lightning cable supplied (the same one you use to charge your phone) and wait for iTunes to start automatically. If this is the first time you put the computer and the iPhone into communication, you must authorize the two devices by pressing the Continue and Authorize buttons that appear respectively on the computer and on the screen of the “iPhone by”. If everything went well, the phone icon will appear in the top left of iTunes, indicating that your iPhone is connected.
Now, click on the icon in question, locate the Backup section and put the check mark next to the options This computer and Encrypt local backup (necessary to save the information related to the Health and Homekit apps). Then click on the Back up now button, to back up your iPhone, wait for the progress bar visible at the top to reach 100% and the game will be done.
< p> Finally, I would like to point out that after making the first connection between iTunes and your iPhone, you can activate wireless synchronization which allows you to connect your computer and phone wirelessly, if both devices are connected to the same Wi network -Fi. To do this, start iTunes, select the Summary tab visible in the left sidebar, locate the Options section, put the check mark next to Synchronize iPhone via Wi-Fi and click on the Apply button.
How to backup iPhone on Mac
If you are wondering how to backup iPhone to Mac with macOS 10.14 Mojave or previous versions, you should know that also in this case it is necessary to use iTunes and the procedure is identical to what I indicated above to back up iPhone on Windows.
How you say? Are you using macOS 10.15 Catalina or later? In that case, you need to know that iTunes has been dismembered into three different applications ( Music , Podcast and TV) and that the synchronization procedure with iOS and iPadOS devices has been integrated into the Finder .
If, therefore, you are wondering how to make backups iPhone without iTunes , all you have to do is connect the phone to the Mac, click on the Finder icon (the smiling face ) visible in the Dock bar and press on the iPhone item visible in the left sidebar, in the Positions section.

Again, after performing the first connection between Mac and iPhone with cable, you can activate the synchronization between the two wireless devices. To do this, go back to the General section, locate the Options item and put the check mark next to the option Show iPhone if the Wi-Fi connection is active- Fi , to connect Mac and iPhone wirelessly when the two devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
< h3> How to backup iPhone to external hard drive
Would you like to backup iPhone to external hard drive ? In that case I am sorry to tell you that it is not possible to do this directly. All you can do is backup your iPhone data via iTunes and then transfer the folder containing the backup files to an external hard drive.
After backing up your iPhone on a computer, as I indicated in the previous paragraphs, and having connected the external hard drive to the PC , locate the folder containing the backup files. If you have a Windows PC , open File Explorer by clicking on the yellow folder icon visible in the system tray, select the item Local disk in the left sidebar and follow the path Users / [username] / Apple / MobileSync / Backup .
Now, locate the folder containing the files of your iPhone backup, right-click on it, choose the Send to item from the menu that appears and select the name associated with your external hard drive , to transfer the folder in question on your external drive.
If, on the other hand, you have a Mac , click on the Finder icon (the smiling face ) visible in the Dock bar, select Library and follow the path Application Support / MobileSync / Backup . After locating the folder relating to your iPhone backup, drag it over the name of your external hard drive, visible under the Location item in the left sidebar, and that’s it. How to backup iPhone with broken screen
If your intention is to backup an iPhone with a broken screen , you must know that by connecting the latter to your computer you can try to recover the photos and videos contained within it. If, on the other hand, you want to save other data, you can rely on third-party software that allows you to recover contacts, messages and much more.
To proceed, take your “iPhone by” and connect it to your computer via the Lightning cable . Now, if you have a Windows PC , open the Windows File Explorer by clicking on its icon (the yellow folder ) in the bar applications, and select the This PC item visible in the left sidebar, then right-click on the Apple iPhone option and select the Import images and video from the menu that appears.
At this point, click on the item More options , to adjust your preferences for importing photos, and choose the ‘option of your interest: Review, organize and group items to import , to divide photos and videos into groups based on creation date, or Import all new items now , to import all file without any splitting. Finally, click on the Import button and that’s it.
If, on the other hand, you have a Mac , open the Photos application, select the name of your iPhone in the left sidebar and, after unlocking your phone, press the Import all new elements , to save the photos and videos of your iPhone on your computer.
It will be useful to know that this procedure, as well as the one described above for Windows, can only be carried out if your iPhone was previously connected to the computer. Otherwise, if your phone screen is not working, you will not be able to proceed as you need to authorize the connection between the two devices.
